Just to hold you over...

I promise that we'll write a better post later, but here's some clips from our date last Thursday to hold you over. There was also a wonderful time at the Mormon Tabernacle Choir public rehearsal, but our camera battery died before we had a chance to snap a picture of that.

When time is short...

I was reading in my journal just now, and I came across this entry. It's less than three weeks until we're married, and I thought this was an appropriate passage to share. My feelings and love for Kiersten have only grown stronger.

November 19, 2008

I held Kiersten's hand tonight! Yeah, I know it's been a while since I've written, and a whole lot has happened. I'll try to catch up more later, but for now just know that Kiersten is very possibly (basically certainly) the most amazing girl I have ever met. As far as I can tell, and I think I can tell a lot, she is everything that I've been looking for in a girl. It was so hard getting the courage to hold her hand, though. I've wanted to do it since last Friday at the basketball game (where I'm pretty sure she was hinting during halftime). But I did it. I did it tonight in the celestial room of the Provo Temple. If I may say so, it was a pretty good place to do it. Oh, I'm just so happy right now, but I really have to go to bed. I'll write more, don't worry.

June 2009

I'm not sure how many people celebrate the start of June, but I certainly am. Today marks the day that Kiersten and I can now respond to people's constant question, "When are you getting married?" with a simple two-worder: "This month."

Time has gone faster than I think either of us imagined. In just two weeks and three days, we will be saying goodbye to classes and finals at BYU. In three weeks (to the day), we will be driving to California to help with wedding preparations. And in just twenty-six days (three weeks and five days), we will be saying, "I do." Wow, it's gone fast, and I've a feeling that it's only going to keep going faster (at least I hope so, as far as the finishing school bit goes).

So, to celebrate, here's a picture of us. Have a happy, happy June! I know we will.

Birthday Boy!

Yesterday we celebrated Eric's birthday. He is 24 now! Its too bad May is almost over- it's felt like we've constantly had a birthday to celebrate. First Kiersten, then David, and now Eric. One ongoing party- its been great! I just love birthdays. Eric kept saying that he doesn't like to be the center of attention or to have a big deal made out of birthdays. But I couldn't help wanting to say Happy Birthday one more time! So... Happy Birthday! I love you Eric!

Eric and I were talking a little yesterday about how our families do things on birthdays- like when do we unwrap presents. It will be fun to find out what traditions each of us have (good ones and/or strange ones) for things like birthdays. I haven't told him about our 'hang over' song we sing in my family as we unwrap birthday presents... That might count as a strange one...

Two Very Deserved Winners

In an effort to maintain peace and harmony in our relationship, I will only respond to the previous post with the statement that that was the first time I had ever seen "our story" described like that, but I wholeheartedly agree (with minor or little corrections).

Now, for the grand announcement of the day. We are proud to announce the lucky winners of two beautiful ties (showcased by the lovely bush below).

Winner #1: The father of Kiersten (the Kiersten pictured at the top of this page)

Distribution of the ties will occur during the week prior to the June 27th. Congratulations to all! And thank you to all who participated in the voting (a.k.a. Kiersten).

Our Story...

For any of you who might care, I thought it would be fun to start off our blog with a little bit about us! Eric and I met almost 9 months ago in September. (though if you talk to him you might get a completely different timeline...apparently our memories are different) But this is what really happened. :) I first saw Eric on the saddle of Mount Timp while I was sitting eating my graham crackers and peanut butter. There he was, wearing a bright orange shirt, standing maybe 10 feet away. As I walked behind him up to the summit, I knew he was the one. Then I passed him up because he was going too slow and didn't think about him again until...there he was the next day at church! He was in my ward! So of course, I had to talk to him. That night at ward prayer (thats the place to meet your future spouse! My sister also met her husband in a ward prayer in that same ward) I went up to talk to him. And that's when he knew I was the one. At least I like to think so. We went out 2 weeks later for the first time. And then a little over a month after that, he finally asked me out again. And we've spent almost every day together since then!

Here we are!

For a few weeks now, we've had a desire to start a blog. This is not because we are talented writers (and the "we" here refers to me, Eric). This is also not because we feel we have anything special or unique to offer the world through their interaction with us on the internet. We just think it will be fun, and hopefully it will give a chance for family and friends to keep up with us as we experience life. So, check back often, and we definitely hope to hear from you in the comments!
