Bird Rock - tidepools

On President's Day, we took some time off to go to one of our favorite places.  Eric absolutely loves this place (because of the awesome shell finding and tide-pools) and always gets so excited when we go.

Eric being very excited.

Awesome spot for fun pregnancy pictures!

And we ended the day climbing up the cliff to sit and watch one of the most beautiful sunsets ever.

Weeks 21-24

Week 21
The baby's kicks started to get a little stronger this week where they could be felt if I had my hand on my stomach. So this was also the week that Eric felt our baby move for the first time.  Very amazing, except Eric found it a little strange. :)
This week also was the start of my month off work (its the intervention period of the research study I am helping with which we are not a part of, so - time off).  I made big plans for everything I was going to get done... Learn everything there is to know about having a baby naturally (extremely large stack of books was checked out from the library this week), make baby a quilt, make baby a blessing dress. You know, just small things... :)

Week 22
Not only is baby kicking more, we can actually see my stomach move and bulge out when she kicks. Love it. I am absolutely loving everything about being pregnant. The worst thing is that sleep is already getting really difficult.  I am not even that big yet, but I am having a hard time.  On top of having to get up to go to the bathroom, I am also not able to get very comfortable.  I think I am so conscious of trying to sleep on my left side that I am not able to sleep very soundly.

Week 23
Had another midwife appointment this week.  It took them about 10 minutes to find the heartbeat.  She finally realized the baby was hiding out way down low. Had me worried there for a second though! Everything looks great. The midwife also calmed my worries about the soreness I have been having in the pelvic area after some of my runs.  Just my joints and ligament loosening up and nothing to worry about unless it gets too uncomfortable.
I finally went this week to get material for my quilt and hopefully will start on that soon!

Week 24
Finally got to wear a maternity dress I got back in December!  I am showing enough now that I look pregnant when I wear it instead of just fat.

Jackpot!

Our latest Freecycle find:

Twenty-plus Fuzzi-bunz cloth diapers with inserts!  Eric and I were super excited when this was posted. And even more excited when we actually got it.  It is so hard getting the baby stuff that is posted, people jump on them right away.  But this time we were first in line! (I guess most people don't get super excited about cloth diapers...) :)

They are all size medium which means we will still have to invest in some small ones for when the baby is little. Unless we get lucky again!!

Valentines Day

Eric and I had a very simple but very fun Valentines Day.  Eric was able to come home at a decent time from school and gave me his entire evening, with no studying. (thanks Eric!!).  We made dinner together, which turned out super yummy.  I love food so I had such a fun time planning what we were going to eat and looking up the perfect recipes. For breakfast, whole wheat crepes with lemon curd and strawberries and bananas. Then dinner was homemade gnocchi with tomato cream sauce, roasted asparagus, and french bread. We had chocolate tofu mousse with a strawberry sauce for desert (although it might sound strange, it is really really good and really rich!).And Eric decorated the table, flower petals and all. He is actually better at making things look nice than me. :)

This is our fourth Valentines together, hard to believe!  I have loved every day that we have been together.  I really believe I have the most amazing husband in the world.  I love you Eric!!

Beach and family

My sister Ruth and her family were in town this weekend, mostly to take the kids to the SD zoo (which is said to be one of the best, Eric and I wouldn't know - we've never been...and its only a few blocks away...). We were able to spend some time with them while they were here. The kids were super excited to go to the beach so that is what we did. Lizzie just loved it, as did Nathan except for a tumble he took where a wave took him rolling through the sand. Poor little guy, but it was sure hilarious to watch.

Ruth and Cole also let us watch their kids while they went on a date. Little kids are just so fun!  We had a blast with them!

Eric, just being cute

Eric with little Nathan. I think being with Nathan made Eric wish a little we were having a boy. :) He thinks Nathan is just awesome.

More of Beautiful SD - Torrey Pines

Last week I went back to Torrey Pines for some hiking with friends.  Eric and I had gone for this first time a couple months ago.  Completely didn't think to take pictures this last time  and then realized I had never put any of this amazing place up on the blog.  Which is unacceptable as this has to be one of the most beautiful places in San Diego. So here goes!

You can tell this post is slightly late since I definitely am not showing at all yet.  I was probably only about 8 weeks along at this point...

Views of SD from the top

A few weeks ago Eric and I drove the super short drive to the top of Mount Soledad. I don't know why it has taken us this long to go there! It's really more of a hill than a mountain, but the views of San Diego are spectacular.

Ocean to the left, temple to the right.

And then we drove straight down the hill and landed at the beach to watch the sunset. Perfect end to the day!
