Ball game with Abby

We took Abby to her first pro baseball game last night.  We went back and forth for a while on whether we should go since the game wasn't going to start until her bedtime. But it was Mormon Night at the Padres and the tickets were cheap so we decided to just do it and cross our fingers that she would stay happy and hopefully be able to sleep some. We decided to take the bus downtown since we only live about 2 miles from the stadium which also made it Abby's first time riding a bus!

Since it was Mormon night we got to join a tailgating party with free food (always nice!) with other BYU alum and then walk around the outfield before the game.  We all wore Mormon Helping Hands yellow shirts as part of highlighting some of the service the Church has done.  Abby even got to wear one, though by the time we got our shirts they only had adult XL left so Abby was swimming in her shirt.

Waving to the crowd!

That shirt is so huge!

Then we went to find our seats way at the top of the stadium. Abby loved the game, all the clapping and cheering and music got her so excited.  The hard part was trying to get her to contain her excitement to our two squished seats and keep her from rolling down the steep stairs that were right on the other side of Eric.

And then poor girl started getting super tired.  But she wouldn't or couldn't fall asleep.  Too loud, too bright for her. So she alternated between getting really quiet and fussy, taking a break to clap her hands every now and then though.  It was also hard for her because I am still nursing her and a loud ballpark sure is not the place to trying to nurse a baby.  She kept asking to nurse and then just couldn't do it with all the distractions. It ended up being the longest stretch of her not nursing we have ever gone, since she didn't nurse from early afternoon until the next morning.

We called it quits at the top of the 7th inning and headed home.  Took a while, since we had to wait for the bus and then got stuck in downtown traffic.  Abby finally conked out on the bus ride home, poor girl.  Overall, it was fun - at least there were some fun parts.  Sure can't say I actually saw much of the game, but I'm glad we tried!
