A trip to the border

Eric had Martin Luther King Day off which was so nice. After a morning of watching inauguration ceremonies, we headed off to spend some time in the amazingly beautiful 70+ degree weather we are having.  We went to Border Field State Park, which we hadn't been to before.  It is right on the California-Mexico border and is a stretch of protected marsh lands and beach. So pretty!  And completely deserted.  Apparently it is not a place too many people know about or go to.

At the border

This was Abby's first time playing in the sand - we are usually holding her hands when we are at the beach. But we let her on her own this time, mostly so we could get some pictures, and she sure got some mouthfuls of sand. She didn't like that too much! She also didn't like it when the water came up faster than we expected and got her quite wet, oops!

Such a nice day!  And except for the part where she got wet, Abby loved it. Got to love summery days in January!
